Less than two weeks after Borgata became the first Atlantic City casino to receive an online gambling permit from New Jersey, the state has given out four more permits with the latest one being granted to the Tropicana Casino and Resort.
Tropicana received its permit on Monday, allowing it to provide online gambling services to the state beginning on November 26. That circled date follows a five-day invitation-only test period for all the operators to ensure that all their systems are fully functional and running seamlessly.
The casino has tapped Gamesys Limited to be its web service provider, which runs the highly successful Jackpotjoy.com website. With Tropicana receiving its license, the casino joins Borgata, Golden Nugget Atlantic City, Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino, and Trump Taj Mahal Casino as the five establishments that have been given the green light to offer online gambling to players within the state.
That leaves five more casinos without the online gambling permits; it’s a list that includes Bally’s Atlantic City, Caesars Atlantic City, Harrah’s Atlantic City, Resorts Casino, and Showboat Atlantic City.
Just like the seemingly expedited process by which state regulators have been doling out these permits, expect the rest of the casinos to receive theirs in the coming days.
As we’ve mentioned before, Revel and the Atlantic Club Casino remain as the only two casinos that haven’t shared any details on their online gambling plans. But with November 26 a little over a month way, expectations are for both casinos to make their plans known sooner than later.
