Genting Alderney is the latest to fall foul of the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) following a complaint about a tweet posted by none other than Keith Chegwin. The tweet alluded to a site owned by Genting and stated: “Just a quickie: Log on to pchprizes.co.uk 4 Your chance 2 win £100k plus Win £2,500 a week 4 life. Have a go X”. The complainant challenged that it was a marketing communication and wasn’t flagged up as such so should be banned. The ASA agreed and upheld the complaint as it breached CAP Code rules 2.1, 2.3, and 2.4. Another notch in the win column for the ASA and the gambling industry needs to up its game. We’ll leave it to Paddy Power to come up with a controversial yet perfectly legal advert. Usually does the trick.
