London, UK; 30 October: Plumbee, a fast-growing social casino games startup, has announced eight-digit annualised revenues, just six months after the launch of its first game. The company, which is based in London’s Tech City, has also built its team up from three founders to 35 staff members since it was founded in July 2011.
All three of Plumbee’s founders, Raf Keustermans, Gerald Tan and Jodi Moran, worked together at Playfish, a social gaming company and one of Europe’s biggest tech success stories in recent years. With a strong focus on quality and providing gamers with the best online experience, the company has seen its Mirrorball Slots game grow rapidly in popularity, with over three million people installing and playing the online game.
Despite being a British-born company, Plumbee is already making waves globally. North Americans and Australians are proving to be the most avid Plumbee users, with Europe also a successful market.
Surprising to some will be the spread of Plumbee’s user base. Women account for the majority of Plumbee’s gamers and the average female user is age 52, with approximately 5% over 65. Male users on the other hand, tend to be younger gamers, with an average age of 30. The split between female and male users is 67% / 33% respectively.
“The growth we have seen over the last six months has been huge,” said RafKeustermans, co-founder and CEO, Plumbee. “The social gaming market has seen some tough times recently, but our vertical, social casino games, is experiencing ever-more development across the different social and mobile platforms. We’ll be building on that in the coming months.”
The company has made some impressive hires over the course of the year in engineering, marketing, analytics and in-house casino experience. All experts in their respective fields, the team has been pulled from the biggest and best technology companies around, including EA Playfish, Nokia, Betfair, Namco-Bandai, Bodog, NextGen and TinyCo.
“London has proven to be a fantastic place to build Plumbee and we’ve been able to construct an incredible team here in the last year, including many highly skilled engineers ,” said Jodi Moran, co-founder and CTO, Plumbee. “The strength of our team is central to the success and significant growth we’ve seen since launch. We’ve recently moved into our new much bigger office to help us scale in the next few months as we’re going to be hiring a lot more people; it’s an exciting thing to be a part of.”
Plumbee’s 2012 has been a year of many milestones, reflected in the company’s three nominations for the industry-leading eGR Awards.
