One of Europe’s most popular poker tournaments, the Irish Open, is giving amateurs and professionals alike the chance to win a place and compete with legends of the game at the Dublin event in April 2012, sponsor William Hill Poker has announced.
The Irish Open has seen some of poker’s most prominent players involved down the years, which has helped the tournament become established as, what Willie Hill call “one of the premier poker events in Europe”.
For a chance to win a place, which includes an all-inclusive trip to compete at the Irish Open, players need to qualify through one of William Hill Poker’s satellite events. Interested? The satellites are taking place right now until 25 March 2012, starting at 2 Euros. Players should visit the William Hill Poker lobby, look for the ‘Land Based’ tab and register for a satellite event to take part in. The main satellite takes place every Sunday, but William Hill has stated players can also compete in Thursday qualifying tournaments beginning this week or on Tuesdays from January.
Those who play their cards right at the mini-satellites will qualify for the main event, where there is expected to be a 3 million Euros prize pool. The lucky bleeders who qualify will be sharing a room with the likes of former Irish Open winners Neil Channing, Marty Smith and James Mitchell while being treated to an all-inclusive package courtesy of William Hill Poker. This includes flights, spending money, five nights accommodation at the Burlington Hotel and of course the main event buy-in.
Last year, local boy Niall Smyth took home the trophy and 550,000 Euros. Will you be having a pop at the satellites?
