G2E Asia 2017 day 3 recap

The Global Gaming Expo (G2E) Asia 2017 completed its three-day conference in Cotai Macau with iGaming Summit. The sessions drew attention to the next generation products and marketing in the region.

Opening Day 3 sessions was a discussion on Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS), its growth and its impact on other industries. In the next few years, DFS is expected to grow its players number immensely. Also taking into account the percentage of younger market segment playing the sports, it is deemed to grow 50% by 2020.

While experiencing success in North America and Europe, DFS has not achieved the same in Asia. The Asian gaming scene has yet to be penetrated by DFS, and expanding to the region has not gone unnoticed by movers and shakers of the industry.

Sitting in the panel were Draftkings CIO Jeffrey Haas and Oulala CEO Valery Bollier.  They led the discussion on why it is time for Asia to embrace DFS.

Bollier shares that DFS should do far more than penetrating the Asian region. He believes it will be a success because of its nature being a skill game and eSports has always been big in Asia. He adds, “DFS is responding the needs of the new generation that is already playing esports.”

Following this panel was the energetic presentation of Hai Ng, the CEO of Neomance, on eSports. Ng displayed in his session its rising popularity. The session looked into the state of the eSports betting market in Asia, its ecosystem and the elements that will drive growth within this gaming space.

Meanwhile, marketing to the younger segment a.k.a. the millennials, remains to be a hot topic this year. Trends and developments on online casino that will cater to millennials and other market groups were not missed during another panel with leaders from IntePlay, Oulala Games, Bet Construct and Vinistic Gaming.

Making up 30% of the world’s workforce are millennials and hitting this target was the subject of Royal Wins Creative Director Myles Blasonato presentation. He outlined how Skill gaming is perfect for this market, and why it will evolve as the next phase of iGaming business.

Blasonato believes that the generation who grew up during the rise of video games popularity will make up the 50% workforce by 2020. He shares, “half of the people that are making money from working are these guys so you need to target these guys before that time comes around.”
