Macau, China, December 13, 2016 – Nonstop action resumed at the Asian Poker Tour Finale Macau 2016 with 156 players returning for Day 2 of the Main Event at the Crystal Palace in Casino Lisboa. Their goal was to survive another eight rounds in order to advance into tomorrow’s Day 3. The day was filled with lots of exciting moments, and at the time of bagging, there were 48 players remaining with India’s Praveen Dwarkanath on top with the largest stack of 761,000.
Main Event Day 3 Chip Leader, Praveen Dwarkanath
Entering Day 2, Dwarkanath was one of the chip leaders, running sixth in chips. As the day progressed, he maintained his stack, gaining a little and losing a little. It wasn’t until the last level of the day did he start accumulating multiple pots to drive him straight to the top. Dwarkanath won a hefty pot against Hong Kong’s Yung Pui Suen with his uncalled river shove; then another with his flush against China’s Wei Guoliang; and to secure the top spot in the rung, he railed China’s Wei Li with a straight over a set. Coming in second-in-chips was China’s Lu Yunye who rose from below average stack at the start of the day to a massive 653,000 at closing. Rounding out the top three was China’s Chen Xiu with 570,000 in chips. Xiu was one of the most aggressive players at his table, and successfully railed several players to earn him his big stack.
Another player who finished the day with a large pile was the day’s entering chip leader, Singapore’s Terminator T. His day was one of the most colorful, railing several players with some very exciting moments. Terminator T was the only player to eliminate two players simultaneously, and he did it twice. One of them included cracking poker pro Yuri Ishida’s pocket aces. Although his stack swung up and down drastically throughout the day, he finished up with a very healthy 541,000 in chips. Notable players who also survived the day were Korea’s Saehoon Lee, China’s Xixiang Luo, Weiyi Zhang, Korea’s SJ Kim, Lim Yo Hwan, Taiwan’s Pete Yen Han Chen, and Guam’s Toniyoung Degracia.
Among the fallen were defending champion Dong Guo who was eliminated very early in the day while current APT Player of the Year 2016 leader, Iori Yogo, was ousted during the final moments of Day 2. Also out of the running were Japan’s Tetsuya Tsuchikawa, Poker King Cup President, Winfred Yu, Peru’s Yohn Paredes, Singapore’s Alex Lee, and Australia’s Phachara Wongwichit.
The Main Event resumes tomorrow, Tuesday December 13th at 1pm. They will play down to the Final Table of Eight. The money round begins at 36 places.
