The Aussie Millions announces it will split from the PokerStars sponsored Asia-Pacific Poker Tour in 2017; Adda52.com to send online qualifiers to the World Poker Tour National China, and Evolution Gaming brings the Live Dealer experience to The Hippodrome.
When PokerStars announced the ground-breaking news that the combination of PokerStars Championships and Festivals would replace the European Poker Tour (EPT), there were always going to be casualties.
The Aussie Millions is the first to evolve after PokerStars announced their new live tournament format, after officially announcing their separation from the PokerStars sponsored Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT).
The Melbourne based event has been the most prominent poker festival in the southern hemisphere since the Crown Melbourne hosted the event for the first time in 1998. The partnership with the APPT began two years ago.
The fate of the APPT is as of yet unknown, although one would suspect it would now crumble with the foundations for the new format built in its stead.
Season 10 of the APPT is currently in full swing with the Macau Poker Cup 25 taking place at the PokerStars LIVE venue at the City of Dreams in Macau. The PokerStars Championships will visit the same location March 30-April 9, 2017.
The 2017 Aussie Millions takes place January 11 – 30, and will consist of 20+ gold ring events, and the Main Event will offer three starting flights for the first time in the event’s history.
Ari Engel is the reigning champion after he defeated 732 entrants to bank the $1.1m first prize.
Adda52.com to Send Qualifiers to WPT National China
When Ari Engel won that Aussie Millions Main Event gold ring he did so by disposing of the World Poker Tour (WPT) Raw Deal host, Tony Dunst, in heads-up action.
One wonders if Dunst will be heading to China for the WPT National event, and if he does he a group of players from India will be following him.
The two largest countries in the world will be united for the first time in poker when Adda52.com holds online satellite qualifiers for the aforementioned WPT National Series event held at the MGM Grand in Sanya.
The ‘Your Ticket to World Poker Tour China Edition’ promotion begins Aug 31 and ends Oct 2. The live event takes place Oct 28 – Nov 3, where the beating heart will be a $1,500 Main Event carrying a $1m Guarantee.
It’s not the first time Adda52.com has sent qualifiers to WPT events. The largest online poker room in India sent six players to the $1m Guaranteed WPT UK Main Event, and 10 to the WPT500 at ARIA Resort & Casino, and WPT National Rozvadov.
Evolution Gaming Launches a Live Casino for The Hippodrome
Last week we brought you the news that the 3D poker operator PKR had hired Evolution Gaming to create a Live Dealer Casino experience, and this week we can tell you that the outfit named EGR Live Casino Supplier of the Year for seven successive years will be taking their unique brand to The Hippodrome.
The feed will be known as ‘Live From the Hippodrome’ and in addition to the plethora of bog standard Live Dealer dealt games, the deal will see the introduction of a Dual Play Roulette system. The new game allows Hippodrome online players to play the iconic game with punters sitting around the table in Lola’s Underground Casino.
The new offering will be available across desktop and mobile devices.
