Unibet is ready to give the press a demo of version 2.0 of the standalone software designed by Relax Gaming as part of the Unibet Open festivities in Copenhagen.
I have always had a soft spot for Unibet.
In 2011, I worked at the Unibet Open in Malta. It was the first tournament I had covered outside of the World Poker Tour (WPT), European Poker Tour (EPT), and the World Series of Poker (WSOP).
There was something unique about the atmosphere, the team, and the vibe amongst the players. It was a small knit community, and I left with the impression that one day they would be remarkable (I also left with a new wife, but that’s another story entirely).
To be remarkable, you have to take risks and become a leader. In 2013, Unibet belonged to the Microgaming Poker Network (MPN). They weren’t remarkable. They weren’t leading. They had rules to follow. They had values to follow.
Follow. Follow. Follow.
And when they decided they didn’t want to follow anymore they left.
It was as bold of a move as it was brazen.
They partnered with a B2B gambling software provider out of Estonia known as Relax Gaming, and created a brand new poker experience minus HUDs, seating scripts, and all of the other nonsense that keeps recreational poker players away from the tables.
It’s difficult to stand out in a crowded marketplace. You don’t become remarkable hidden amongst the flock. The greatest innovators of our time don’t like to play Follow The Leader.
And it worked.
Over the next three years Unibet’s new platform grew, and recently reported growth in the region of 37% when the rest of the ecosystem fell by 20%. Earlier this year, Unibet became a mini poker network when they allowed Pokerihuone players to jump on board.
And now it’s time to evolve once more. It’s time to take more risks. It’s time to step up, take a chance, and keep those fingers crossed.
Unibet and Relax Gaming have been busy like bees working on improving their player experience and will unveil version 2.0 at the Unibet Open in Copenhagen 25-28 August.
According to the press release:
The new client is based on new proprietary technology built by Relax Gaming and includes a full graphical and UX redesign, a bonus shop, expanded challenges, and many other features.
Selected members of the press will be able to get an eyeful of the new software during an exclusive launch on Saturday 26 August and yours truly will be there to bring you a full report.
“We’re looking forward to showing the world what we’ve been working on, but more importantly, we’re looking forward to improving our client for our players.” Said Unibet Head of Poker, Andrew West.
Remarkable.
