Belgian Pierrick Tallon has won the United Kingdom & Ireland Poker Tour Main Event in Bristol after beating Christopher Brice in heads up action to take the £53,000 first prize
Belgian player Pierrick Tallon only has one live cash on his Hendon Mob resume.
It’s a pretty decent one.
He’s just walked away with the £53,000 first prize in the £770 buy-in United Kingdom & Ireland Poker Tour (UKIPT) Main Event at the Rainbow Casino in Bristol.
It was an event that attracted some of the strongest players on the UK circuit. It always does. Brett Angell, who won the London leg in Season 4, bubbled the final table, Shola Akindele Deadman proved that marriage isn’t going to slow her poker playing exploits down with a 12th place finish and Team PokerStars Pro Jake Cody went deep with a 35th place cash.
There were 446 entrants in total. There was £302,834 in the kitty. 63 players were paid. Amongst those not already mentioned were Bruce Atkinson (19th), James Atkin (30th), Nik Persaud (40th) and Ryan Spittles (45th).
The final table of nine was set after Angell was sent to the rail. Tallon started as the overwhelming chip leader, with a 900,000 lead over his nearest rival Christopher Brice. The pair would eventually make it to heads-up. A deal was struck. Tallon took £44k, Brice took £42,300, and they left £9k in the middle to play for.
They went at it for the length of time it took West Ham to knock two passed Arsenal. Eventually, Brice moved all-in, holding [Kh] [4h], and Tallon made the call holding [Ah] [3s]. The board ran out [Ac] [Jh] [4d] [2c] [9c] and Tallon’s improvement to a pair of aces ensured victory for the Belgian.
