Full Tilt has signed Marc Kennedy to be their first-ever Player Ambassador. The five times undefeated Rush High Leaderboard winner will be their ‘man on the ground’ as they aim to create a more player friendly online experience.
It’s not a hallucination. Full Tilt: the team that dropped the word poker from their name has hired Marc Kennedy to be their first-ever Player Ambassador.
It’s a fascinating narrative. Kennedy was lured into the game after watching former Full Tilt Professional Gus Hansen kicking ass on the World Poker Tour (WPT).
“This guy is just too cool.” Kennedy once told PokerNews’s Chad Holloway in an interview.
He is an online grinder who earned his bankroll playing in the local pub cash games before transitioning to full ring cash games on Full Tilt Poker. He stuck $850 into his account and quickly run it up to more than $15,000.
He plays under the name ‘PlayinWitDreams’, a moniker inspired by the Notorious B.I.G track “Just Playing (Dreams)” and credits much of his success to his partner Kym who took a sabbatical from her own dreams to help him achieve his.
“When you start out in poker you pretty much have two dreams – win the WSOP Main Event and get a pro sponsorship with one of the big sites.” Kennedy says on his blog.
Unable to tear himself away from his keyboard (he said it’s tough to play live poker anymore because it’s impossible for him to get a better hourly than he does online) he thought his only way of achieving his dream was to have a crack at the 2013 Full Tilt Black Card Sponsorship.
Kennedy took the line that most successful people in the world do: he set a goal, took action and worked his bollocks off, and looking back over his life he can very proudly boast of being the five time consecutive undefeated Rush-High Leaderboard champion.
It wasn’t just Kennedy’s impressive grinding skills that shined in the eyes of Full Tilt Managing Director Dominic Mansour and his crew. Kennedy was also very popular within the poker community where he posts on 2+2 as Sparky999.
Writing in a press release Mansour said they felt they needed a ‘man on the ground’ and that Kennedy will help them ‘reshape online poker to better meet the needs of recreational players’ where he will essentially act as a conduit to the thousands of players who play on the once mighty site.
If you do want your voice heard regarding Full Tilt products then you can ask Kennedy questions via Twitter at @PlayinWitDreams, via 2+2 under the aforementioned pseudonym, or look out for him on his own personal Twitch channel or the Full Tilt official Twitch channel where he will be appearing more often now he has a patch covering his left nipple.
So that was a surprise.
I thought Full Tilt were winding down online poker operations and turning into an online casino.
What do you think of the change of heart?
