The World Poker Tour has teamed up with BLUFF.com to unveil the names of seven players who will feature as part of the Season XIII WPT Ones to Watch segment.
The World Poker Tour (WPT) has teamed up with the boffins at BLUFF H.Q to launch the Season XIII Ones to Watch segment. Seven professional poker players will get the opportunity of a lifetime: their story, and their face, all over televised segments of the WPT production for the remainder of the season.
Moving forward the names, and faces, of Garrett Greer, Kristy Arnett, Vlad Mezheritsky, Candace Collins, Jose Serratos, Justin Zaki, and Daniel Strelitz are about to receive more worldwide exposure than at any other time in their lives.
The WPT Ones to Watch has been an integral part of the televised production since Season IX, and it’s good to see it back. So how are these fine fellows and females chosen? Are they just plucked out of the hat, or are they subjected to a complex formula that makes the Global Poker Index (GPI) seem like 1+1=2?
Here is the official word according to the WPT Blog.
“Our dedicated and knowledgeable production team aims to select a diverse group of young up-and-comers that haven’t had that major score yet, but are on the cusp of reaching that pinnacle and breaking through.”
One of the peculiarities of the recent announcement is it comes with over 50% of the season already consigned to the record books. However, the timing couldn’t have been better for the selectors as Garrett Greer turned into a one man wrecking crew at the recent WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic at The Bellagio. Greer eliminated very single player at the final table, before finally relinquishing a 9:1 chip lead to the vastly experienced Mohsin Charania, to lose out as close to the finishing line as you can get.
It’s also great to see Kristy Arnett in the mix. I believe she has all the requisite qualities needed to be a genuine poker star. It just depends largely on marketing, skill and luck. The WPT have taken care of the marketing side of that equation, now we’ll just have to see if she can find the little bit of luck needed to gain a head of steam?
I’m ecstatic because it really is a dream come true. I am so privileged to be part of such an amazing group,” Arnett told her former employers at PokerNews. “I honestly feel a bit out of my league as far as live tournament scores go, but I guess I have to start somewhere.”
Vlad Mezheritsky, Candace Collins, Jose Serratos, Justin Zaki, and Daniel Strelitz complete the line-up, each of which have had exciting runs in WPT events in recent times.
