Mark ‘dipthrong’ Herm tops the Full Tilt Online Poker Series (FTOPS) leaderboard for the second consecutive year, and wins a four month Black Card Pro Sponsorship in the process.
Recent Life Outside of Poker guest, Mark ‘dipthrong’ Herm, has won the Full Tilt Online Poker Series (FTOPS) XXVII Leaderboard contest – the second successive year he has done so.
Herm won two of the thirty events, plus a series of other impressive results, to pip Nelson ‘FeCoNiCuZn’ Maccini to the post by 1061 points to 784; Sebastian ‘p00cket00’ Sikorski was third with 747 points. Herm picked up the coveted golden jersey for his wins in Event #5 $530 Mixed 10-Game 6-Max (153 players), and Event #12 $109 No-Limit Hold’em Rush Rebuy (258 players).

We sat down with Herm to talk about his recent victory and this is what he had to say.
How does it feel to have won back-to-back FTOP leaderboard prizes?
“It’s definitely kind of cool to have won two in a row, but I am more pleased with myself in actually winning a couple events, and how my game has progressed this past year in general. The FTOPS leader board is a sort of volume based metric, and I don’t think an accurate depiction of overall skill or anything.”
What’s life like for a Full Tilt grinder these days?
“Full Tilt is sort of on hard times in terms of player fields, so for the volume of players on the site I really love the FTOPS series. They have some cool stuff in there that makes it fun – like a 25 game tourney – and I’ve always found the variations on tournaments in general to be creative and sort of entertaining. Obviously prize pools are a drop in the bucket compared to Stars, but I honestly don’t know what they could do to improve besides erasing their history of having been involved in the huge Black Friday Lederer/Ferguson etc. scandal. I don’t think Full Tilt Poker will ever recover from that honestly, but I hope they do.”
