Aussie Millions schedule released for 2015 and there will be 21 events taking place at the Crown Melbourne, Australia, Jan 25–Feb 1.
If you like throwing shrimps on Barbies then 2015 is definitely the year for you.
Not only is the World Series of Poker (WSOP) going to push their Asia-Pacific (WSOP-APAC) in front of their European cousin, but the 2015 Aussie Millions schedule has also been released nice and early.
2013 saw the first rise in attendances for three years and all indications point to another successful year at the Melbourne tables.
So what’s new then?
There will be 21 events, as opposed to the 26 that ran last year. Amongst those appendages cut from the main meat include the Chinese poker event, the Tournament of Champions and the No-Limit Hold’em (NLHE) Team event.
The other major change concerns a slight price hike in the A$1,100 events. Players at the lower end of the scale will now have to trump up A$1,150 instead but there will be recompense in the form of a new tournament called the Deep Freeze; a deep stack tournament similar to the WSOP Monster Stack which proved so popular early this summer.
One significant omission continues to be a lack of a Ladies, or Seniors event, which is unusual given the success that the WSOP has with this format, and the decision by the European and World Poker Tour’s to add these sorts of events into their rosters.
The big guns return with the A$10,600 Main Event kicking off on Sun, Jan 25th, the A$25,000 Challenge starting on Fri, Jan 23, the A$100,000 Challenge booming into view on Sun Jan 25th, and the mammoth A$250,000 rounding things off on Sun, Feb 1st.
For the second year running the Aussie Millions will team up with the Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) so expect a deluge of satellite qualifiers, particularly into the Main Event.
The event will once again coincide with the Australian Tennis Grand Slam event-giving players the chance to watch the world’s greatest tennis pros in action.
