Interview with Jesse May at the WPT Venice Grand Prix – Day 4

As we reach the business end of the World Poker Tour (WPT) Venice Grand Prix there is one man who needs to know how these players tick more than anyone else. Jesse May is the man responsible for entertaining tens of thousands of players as he transmutes the often unexcited and turns it into something special. So what does May think as we enter this crucial phase at the Casino Di Venezia?

On the speed of play?
“Poker in Italy is a little bit special. They will play really tight one moment and then go completely bananas the next…and yes…they love their long tanks.”

On Kara Scott?
“She is easily one of the most underrated poker players out there. I watched her when she finished second in the Irish Open…she won the Irish Open by the way, and she didn’t just win it, she annihilated it. When she is happy at the table she plays…she is happy…and she can play.”

On Mike Sexton?
“The guy made the money at the One Drop this year. He is a mixed game player, but he still has a great Hold’em game. He can mix it up. I did have a beer with him last night and it was all Ludovic Lacay. “Ludovic was three-betting here, and here…I might have to sort him out at some point.” I think Mike might allow him to walk the dog and we will have to wait and see if Mike has the goods when that happens.”

On Warren Lush?
“He turns all of the cogs. Nothing moves in the poker business without Warren Lush these days.
