Anderson Silva wants to incapacitate Chael Sonnen at UFC 148

ufc 148 silva sonnenUFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva isn’t exactly the type to engage in pre-fight trash talking; he’s the type to look at you in the eye, smile, and then proceed to pummel you once those cage doors close.

But when it comes to Chael Sonnen, Silva was as unfiltered as we’ve ever seen him, unleashing a threat that would probably make a lot of us pee in our pants if the invectives were directed at us.

During the UFC 148 pre-fight conference call to the media, Silva, through a translator, issued a specific plan on what he plans to do to the challenger.

“What I’m going to do inside the Octagon is something that’s going to change the image of the sport,” the Spider said. “I’m going to make sure every one of his teeth are broken, his arms are broken, his legs are broken.”

“He’s not going to be able to walk out of the Octagon by himself. I can guarantee that.”

In all the years we’ve been watching Anderson Silva, we’ve never even seen him talk smack to an opponent, let alone issue a guarantee to break every appendage in their bodies. So yeah, consider us shocked when we heard those words, and to quite honest, we’re scared for Chael Sonnen now.

Even oddsmakers, who beforehand, listed Silva as a 2/5 favorite to beat Sonnen, might want to reconsider those lines because Silva’s threat is going to cause a lot of bettors to pound on the Spider the same way he’s probably going to do to the self-professed People’s Champ who, incidentally, has been tagged as a 9/4 underdog.

Remember, the last time these two met, Sonnen was on his way to beating the once-unstoppable Silva, only to tap out in the dying seconds of the fifth and final round after getting caught in a triangle choke. Since then, Sonnen has unleashed a barrage of insults towards Silva, even resulting to showing up in a press conference with his own championship belt and worse, insulting some of Silva’s family members.

This time around, Silva doesn’t appear to be messing around, and judging from the venom he spewed in that conference call, you can be sure that we’re in for a hellacious fight come July 7.
