The firm confirmed to Publico it would be pulling out after a court had ruled in favor of the gambling monopoly Santa Casa di Misericórdia de Lisboa. That case means Betclic is now susceptible to a $50,000 fine for each breach of the country’s iGaming industry regulations. The news also sees the end of a large number of sponsorship deals the company signed with football, basketball, handball, futsal and hockey teams.
