Bookmaker William Hill has strengthened its sponsorship portfolio with the addition of snooker’s UK Championship. The event will be known as the williamhill.com UK Championship after the firm announced a deal with World Snooker earlier this afternoon. This year’s event gets underway on Saturday running for eight days until its climax on 11th December at York’s Barbican. The sport’s second largest ranking event gets underway with 32 players with the likes of John Higgins, Ronnie O’Sullivan and Stephen Hendry all making an appearance. The tournament has a rich history dating back to 1977 and is broadcast on the BBC giving the gambling industry firm the best chance for increased exposure.
Hills came to the aid of sportswomen everywhere today by announcing they will be putting on their own Sportswoman of the Year Award.
