eGaming Review Magazine (eGR) will go behind a paywall beginning September 28th. This means, in order to access content on the eGR website, readers will need a subscription to the eGaming review magazine.
The magazine’s parent company, Pageant Publishing, made the announcement on their website.
The decision to charge for online content puts the website more in line with Pageant Publishing’s overall strategy of subscription based content. The print copy of eGaming Review Magazine has been one of the more popular trade magazines in the gaming industry for a decade.
Director of Strategic Development for Pageant Media, Sebastian Timpson said on their website, “Paid for subscription content is a core strategy of the business and we are bringing eGaming Review in line with other brands. This approach allows us to invest significantly more resources into our range of business information products and data, providing more value to subscribers.”
The subscription model will carry over into the groups popular “eGR Daily Snapshot” newsletter as beginning on the 28th of September, those who receive the email will be required to have a magazine subscription to read the content.
Newsletter subscribers will receive a discounted rate for the eGR Magazine subscription. For £370 ($600) eGR Daily Snapshot subscribers will receive 15 issues of the magazine rather than the typical 12 per year.
