12Bet terminates Sevilla deal; Oddschecker leader remains unchanged

Sevilla 12Bet terminated

Sevilla 12Bet terminated12Bet.com has announced that their sponsorship deal with Spanish Primera side Sevilla will be terminated at the end of the current season. A statement from a 12Bet.com spokesman, published on eGaming Review, stated, “Rumoured reports the sponsorship was terminated because of 12Bet’s desire not to apply for a licence in Spain are not true. In light of impending regulatory developments, 12Bet would like to study its marketing options with respect to the Spanish market. We are waiting for a concrete definition of the regulation of the Spanish and other soon to be regulated markets.”

The termination comes a matter of days after Calvin Ayre and the Bodog Brand struck a similar deal with Ayr United. 12Bet felt that as their name didn’t link to Sevilla in the slightest that all their friends’d never take them seriously. Thank goodness the iGaming industry isn’t a glorified school playground.

Oddschecker has released its latest list of the top ten companies in the iGaming industry. They might want to think about relinquishing the plastic two-bob trophy permanently to the company currently sitting atop the standings. Bet365’s dominance of the rankings continued in earnest and it’s hard to remember anyone giving the privately-held sports betting specialists a problem.

Victor Chandler had a good month on the list as their market share increased by 7.1% to 7.7%. The biggest faller was the Coral with their share of market clicks decreasing from 5.3% to 4.6%. It meant Skybet and Boylesports now sit ahead of the Coral.
