Over the course of the last month and half Betfred, one of the leading brands in the bingo market has been making a number of moves in the market. Last month, Betfred unveiled their mobile gaming product to allow gamblers to bet on a wide array of sports with their mobile applications. The independent UK bookmaker Betfred also signed a one-year sponsorship with English rugby league club Warrington Wolves for this year’s Super League season.
Betfred made another timely move in acquiring UK-facing online bingo brand BuckyBingo.com and sister brand BOGOFBingo.com for an undisclosed amount. Betfred capitalized on the break up of land-based bingo operator Buckingham Bingo earlier this month and this acquisition will undoubtedly strengthen the company’s position in the online bingo space. Buckingham Bingo, prior to its break up was among the biggest bingo operations with over 1.6 million attendees annually.
Betfred.com’s managing director John Haddock said in the release “This is a great acquisition for Betfred.com…Our intention is to continue with the Bucky brand and it will be business as usual.”
Neil Meredith, KPMG Corporate Finance partner commented on the deal in the release, “BuckyBingo.com and BOGOFBingo.com provide an established and highly regarded online bingo offering, that is well positioned to enter its next phase of growth under the new ownership of Betfred.com.”
John Haddock also added his reassurance to existing and future clients, “What I can say is that there will be plenty of investment that will give our customers a fantastic experience in the future.”
