Residents of Nevada that use their mobile phones, like to gamble on sports, but don’t own a Blackberry have been looking rather scornfully at those that do for quite some time. “Why should we have to gamble at a land-based location like everyone else” they would say. Now though if you’re not cool enough to know an iPhone you too will be able to gamble using your phone in Nevada.
Leroy’s, the bookmaking arm of American Wagering, are to begin a field trial of their sports betting app for anyone with an Android enabled phone immediately.
American Wagering is obviously extremely pleased to now be open to the largest phone operating system in the world, and Senior Vice President, John English, commented: “This field trial delivers on our promise to revolutionize the sports betting industry. The Nevada regulators have been most cooperative in furthering our efforts. They are very knowledgeable and thorough. They understand new technology and where it’s headed. We are very pleased they have authorized this Android field trial.”
Leroy’s App has already operated a service for the last five months in Nevada, and it will allow those with an Android handset to bet on anything
This comes at a time when mobile gambling is experiencing growth over in Europe like never before, and those at the forefront of New Jersey’s push for online gambling might want to take note of Leroy’s number. Better still it might be even more amusing if they give Joe Brennan Jr the number of Leeeeerooyyy Jennnnnkinnnnns.
