Michael Young, one of the more classier players in the MLB just took the gloves with the Texas Rangers. Michael Young requested a trade on Monday from the Texas Rangers as reported by Fox Sport’s Ken Rosenthal.
It’s understandable to see why Young feels dissed by team, they did pick up Adrian Beltre and DH Mike Napoli, so where the hell is Young supposed to play? I guess Texas loses a World Series and all of sudden they don’t need a guy like Young anymore. Go figure.
The team is saying that Young has had a change of heart, which to Young, couldn’t be further from the truth. In an interview with Rosenthal Young said “The suggestion that I had a change of heart and asked for a trade is a manipulation of the truth,” Young said. “I asked for a trade because I’ve been misled and manipulated and I’m sick of it.”
Young kept it classy, but said just enough to let everyone know that this goes deeper than he said- she said jazz, and there’s clearly a divide between Young and GM Jon Daniels.
So where will Michael Young end up playing next year? The beautiful thing about the gaming industry is we can do more than just ask these questions and blog about them, we can put odds to it and have people bet on it.
My guess, there’s a team wearing pinstripes in the Bronx that could use a veteran gold glove shortstop/third-baseman, who’s also a 6x allstar and bats .300 for his career, and they won’t be the only ones. But maybe they’ll have better luck in trying to land this Ranger.
