Earlier on this month Jonathan Duhamel became the first Canadian to win the WSOP main event, and one of those coveted bracelets. The PokerStars pro led from start to finish at the main event and is for the time being the guy everyone wants to sit down and have a chat with – even people outside of his native Quebec. That won’t go down well with those fighting for independence!
Even if it is the case that by this time in three months time everyone has forgotten that Duhamel exits, right now he’s on the tip of the poker world’s tongue.
Flip all the way to the other coast of Canada, and the Vancouver Sun are the latest publication to get a few minutes with the J-Dawg (there’s your new nickname, thank us later). In the article, Duhamel talks about everything from the $100,000 he donated to charity, bungee jumping at the Stratosphere, and the fact that he knocked out Matt Affleck with pocket jacks – to make up for it he’ll be investing in a couple of beers and shots for the two of them. J-Dawg’s nice like that. He combines all this for a love of hockey and professes that he’s now in the “NHL of poker.”
So before you forget Duhamel exists, it seems the Canadians are hoping his star doesn’t simply flicker and burn out.
