Most of the news coming out of the horse’s mouth in the UK has been concerned with the BHA’s ludicrous levy demands. The fact that the offer on the table from the bookmakers is perfectly reasonable matters not even a sausage to the BHA, and chairman Paul Roy. They simple won’t budge. It’s expected this standoff will remain until the culture secretary Jeremy Hunt makes a decision. One side, however, will be left sprawled on the final furlong.
The guys over at Stan James are still happy enough to be involved in this at times antiquated sport though. Only yesterday, they took a stake in a US-based horse racing wagering business. This came after they’d become BFF’s with the Jockey Club. When it comes to racing they basically can’t think of anything better.
Stan James saw 1/6 shot Dare Me win at Exeter but have still decided to leave the horse’s odds at 16/1 for the Cheltenham curtain raiser Supreme Novices’ Hurdle and Neptune Novices’ Hurdle.
Head of PR, Charlie McCann, told us: ” Dare Me made one significant mistake but we gleamed little from this and left him at 16/1 for the Festival; he will surely have to step up in class next time and we should know more about his long term prospects after that run.”
This was all as he’d explained that he and a Stan James pal had gone to a Halloween party dressed as a pantomime horse. Unfortunately his pal (the back end) remains at large. Don’t look at us Charlie.
