We all just got Punk’d Wayne Rooney style

TAGs: Manchester United, Punk'd, Sir Alex Ferguson, Wayne Rooney

RooneyAnyone who now thinks that Wayne Rooney doesn’t revel in the lime-light that surrounds him is clearly mistaken. This week speculation over the departure of Manchester United’s most global star was the talking point on the lips of almost everyone in the UK.

Would he really go to City? Why does he want to leave? Does he want to stay in Manchester because of the prostitutes? Is it all Malcolm Glazer’s fault? Unfortunately for the media, Rooney has now made a dramatic u-turn over the whole saga. What do you expect to be filling the papers now? There’s always Liverpool…

Signing a new five-year-deal this lunchtime Rooney fooled everyone. The fans, fellow players, however you’ve got to believe the bookies are laughing. Punters have been hedging money on Rooney going to all manner of exotic and putrid locations over the past few days and he’s staying put.

Now that Rooney’s made this U-turn I’m expecting LeBron to buy-out his contract at the Heat and return to Cleveland. If Wayne can do it so can you LeBron. Failing that, just appear in a Cavs jersey at a home game.

Rooney’s ambition to stay in Manchester is complete. Whether it was the death threats, balaclavas, or Ian Holloway’s rant, he played out the best episode of Punk’d ever seen. Tick a boo Sir Alex and Wayne
