If you thought that Paddy Power might be the only ones trying to take the complete piss out of Wales and the Ryder Cup then think again, there’s another one of the online bookmaker stable in the house and they’re even more ingenious than that pesky Irishman was.
Fresh off the back of their IPO announcement earlier this month, Betfair have thrown their hat into the Ryder Cup ambush marketing ring, and we have to say that their campaign is perhaps the more inventive of the two companies. Instead of building a massive sign that can be taken down, Betfair have employed a flock of eagles carrying along banners with the slogan “Watch the Birdie” and obviously the Betfair company logo as well.
I don’t want to give the event organizers any ideas but the only way you’d really be able to prevent this is to shoot the feathered creatures with some kind of air rifle type contraption.
Now that these two have shown up at the Ryder Cup, one wonders whether Bodog may have a surprise in store for us? Maybe send the Bodog girls down to Wales to represent?
