Yankees rolling the dice with Nova

With the Yankees up just one game on the Rays and facing the big bats of the Bluejays tonight, it’s a little surprising that they’re a guy without a career start to the mound. Ian Nova had better be Ian super Nova or those Jays bats can get loud at the Rogers Center in a New York minute.

The Jays head into this one as the favorite by most books. BetUs has the Jays at -125 favorite and the Yankees a +105 underdog. Here’s the thing, sometimes, those unknown pitchers are the most difficult to hit, especially if they have their stuff going. Hitter haven’t seen them, hitters don’t know their stuff, and if this kid can keep his composure, he could go at least 6 and then had it off to the bullpen. The Jays offense is explosive but has been struggling with runners in scoring position, so if this kid can keep the ball in the ballpark, I like the Yankees chances as the underdog.

Here’s a question, just how much of a contender is Robinson Cano for AL MVP? When you consider the Yankees have the best record in the AL and Cano has been their best and most consistent player all season, he has to be in the mix.
