Bodog-sponsored Fulham might only have two points since the beginning of the season last week, but they came mightily close to humbling the second best team in the country, Manchester United. Sir Alex Ferguson was chewing that gum more ferociously than ever, and downed more than a couple of his 12-year-old vintage after the whistle, as Mark Hughes’ side twice came from behind at the Cottage in front of Sky’s cameras. Simon Davies and Brede Hangeland, both grabbed goals for the South West London club, and they were unlucky not to be awarded a spot kick when United defender Nemanja Vidic seemed content to swap shirts early with new Fulham signing Moussa Dembele.
United goals came from the evergreen Paul Scholes, and Hangeland put one through his own net. Hughes shouldn’t go away from the game with his tale between his legs – they’re still unbeaten, and above Man City. Reason enough to cheer Sparky. Read more.
