Las Vegas Sands’ chairman Sheldon Adelson agrees with Sands China CEO Steve Jacobs that the plan is for the Sands brand to be the first into the Japanese market in either 2014 or 2015. Where these two execs differ is in who’ll be blowing the bugle that launches that charge, and Adelson got a little territorial in his zeal to make sure everyone understood that he’s playing lead trumpet in this band. Adelson also let it slip that he’s planning a ‘gaming strip’ somewhere on Europe’s Mediterranean coast — similar to the Cotai Strip in Macau — but it’s only in the planning stage until the global economy picks up.
