An extraordinary 1,240 players took to the tables for the 2010 European Poker Tour San Remo Main Event, smashing the previous record for an EPT event. The turnout was all the more impressive for the fact that the Eyjafjallajökull volcano eruption prevented an even larger number from attending. So either poker is catching on in Italy big-style, players are prepared to travel thousands of miles by car, like Barry Greenstein, to go to Italy or someone’s got their sums wrong.
