Racehorses dying at twice the rate in North America

HorseHeadNick Zito might be on to something, picking to ride a horse named Ice Box. Seems race horses in North America are ending up in ‘cold storage’ more than twice as often as horses that race in other countries. Suspicions as to the cause of such a high mortality rate range from the prevalence of synthetic tracks to allegations of widespread illegal ‘supplementation’ given to the horses. Seriously, if this industry gets any more bad press, the entire concept of North American horse racing may get taken to the knackers. Read more.
