Turns out Paddy Power has pissed someone off. Funny that. This time it’s the racing authorities, who are quietly seething at the Irish bookmakers’ record-breaking billboard, or, to be more accurate, the hideous, tacky eyesore with which it has decided to violate the glorious Gloucestershire scenery for the purpose of a bit of attention-seeking at the Cheltenham Festival. Shouldn’t really be rewarding Green Square with the publicity it craves but this is quite literally a sign of the times, in as much as it advertises just how dependent racing is on the cash of the bookies.
