Pucker up!
Another day and yet more ridiculous words have come out of the mouth of the man set to win person of the year in Qatar, South Africa, and Russia – Sepp Blatter. Since he awarded the World Cups in 2018 and 2022 to Russia and Qatar, people not enamoured with a good knowledge of how football’s world governing body works might feel some kind of sympathy for Herr Blatter. The latest to exit the mouth of FIFA’s favourite rotund man will make grim reading for even the most forgiving of people.

It’s been widely reported that the 2022 in Qatar will gave plenty of problems. Apart from the temperature being hot enough to actually cook eggs on your skin, the strict Islamic culture is such that alcohol is strictly prohibited along with homosexuality.

This is where we welcome Sepp to the article.

At a press conference in Johannesburg on Monday, when questioned on the issues of homosexuality he jokingly replied: “I would say they should refrain from any sexual activities.

“We are definitely living in a world of freedom and I’m sure when the World Cup will be in Qatar in 2022, there will be no problems.

“You see in the Middle East the opening of this culture, it’s another culture because it’s another religion, but in football we have no boundaries. We open everything to everybody and I think there shall not be any discrimination against any human beings be it on this side or that side, be it left, right or whatever.”

Concisely it seems unlikely that Blatter will do anything. It will be interesting to see what Blatter’s suggestions to combat the outwardly racist attitudes that may be a problem in Russia may be. Would he recommend that they all don masks or white body paint in order to disguise their colour? Wouldn’t put it past Blatter for one second.
