New York Yankees owner George Steinbrenner has passed away at the age of 80 in Florida. The owner of the ‘evil empire’ courted controversy, spent billions, polarized opinion across the country, but will always be remembered in the hearts of baseball fans in New York and beyond as a man who made a huge impact on the sport. During his New York tenure the Yankees achieved seven World Series titles and 11 American League pennants since 1977.
