The Story
MGM Resorts International has reached a settlement with the most of the victims of the October 1, 2017 mass shooting that killed 58 people and injured hundreds. MGM said the total settlement amount will reach between $735m to $800m, making it the third largest victim compensation fund in U.S. history. As a consequence of the settlement, the plaintiffs will have to release all pending litigation against the casino operator. Robert Egret, a lead counsel for the plaintiffs, said the settlement represented “the best outcome for our clients and will provide the greatest good for those impacted by these events.”
