Mainland China is the number one government to ask Apple to take down gambling applications on its platform. According to the latest transparency report covering the second half of 2018, the tech giant received 80 requests for removal of certain apps based on governments’ claims that the said apps violated local laws. China accounted for 56 of the requests and 626 of the apps that were flagged are related to “illegal gambling or pornography.” Other countries that have filed takedown requests include Russia, Vietnam, Austria, Norway, and Switzerland.
