Alexander Zharov, head of Russia’s telecom watchdog Roskomnadzor, said that they would block access to nine VPN companies that refused to connect their operations to the government’s Federal State Information System (FGIS). The FGIS restricts access to illegal websites, which include internationally licensed online gambling sites. Zharov said the reluctant VPN companies would have 30 days to connect to the FGIS or face their own blocking measures.
