The Story

Net profit of Travellers International Hotel Group Inc. (TIHGI) jumped three-fold in the first six months of 2018, more than a year after the arson attack that hit its Resorts World Manila property.

The increase was driven by its non-gaming revenue.

The Philippine-listed casino operator announced that its net profit totaled PHP1.69b (US$31.7m) in the first half of 2018, higher than the PHP373m ($6.99 m) it posted in the same period last year.

Gaming revenue went down 2.6% to PHP9.01b ($168.95m) year-on-year but it was offset by the strong performance of its non-gaming revenues, which rose 4.4% to PHP1.52b ($28.5m). TIGHI pointed out that revenues from hotel, food, beverage and others contributed 13.8% and 13.9%, respectively, to the company’s H1 2018 gross revenue.
