The Story

GVC Holdings, the parent company of Ladbrokes and Coral, confirmed that it has entered into a joint venture with MGM Resorts, giving both companies a foothold in the U.S. sports betting industry.

Both companies have an equal part in the venture.

MGM and GVC will be shelling out $100m each for a 25-year contract, with a stipulation that after 10 years of being partners, either side could potentially buy out the other. The most important effect of the deal is that the two companies can establish betting ventures in U.S. states where gambling and sports betting are legal. Under the joint venture, GVC will be the lead online gambling and sports betting services provider in all MGM properties in the country.
