The Story

The Chinese government is set to implement a ban on online poker apps, preventing patrons from downloading it on their mobile devices and barring their ads on social media.

The ban will have massive impacts internationally.

The ban on online poker will reportedly take effect on June 1, although the legal framework is still in the works, according to the South China Morning Post. Hong Kong Poker Players Association managing director Stephen Lai said that the imminent Chinese crackdown will drastically affect earnings of operators, and will be felt as far as Manila and South Korea.
