A New York senator has filed what could be the most serious legislative push to legalize sports wagering that the state has ever seen to date.

 

Sports leagues get 0.25% ‘integrity fee’

Sen. John Bonacic filed Senate Bill S7900, which will allow tracks and off-track betting parlors to take sports wagers; empower the New York State Gaming Commission to manage the sports betting licenses; and require gaming entities to secure a separate sportsbook license. The bill also proposes a state tax rate of 8.5% on gross gaming revenue, plus a 0.25% “integrity fee” to be given to the sports leagues.
