The Story

The price of bitcoin has reached another all-time high days after the new cryptocurrency, called Bitcoin Cash, was split off from the main bitcoin blockchain.

Bitcoin posted a 16 percent leap.

The price of bitcoin jumped to $3,360.87 on Saturday. By Sunday, the digital currency settled down to $3,241.05.

The weekend gain on the bitcoin price can be credited to a “brief rally”.

BlockTower Capital CIO Ari Paul, in a CNBC interview, said that the weekend's surge is due “to a brief rally” following a “relatively uneventful” split. Saturday's bitcoin price also marks the first time that it reached $3,000 since June.

Bitcoin's continued rise should not be impeded by security risks.

As bitcoin sustained another record-high, it is important to secure the coins on wallets and exchanges. Addressing this concern, bitcoin technology research and development outfit nChain introduced two of its patent-pending security inventions that will prevent private key theft.

What are these two nChain inventions?

The first technique, referred to as “Deterministic Key Generation,” enables secure communication between the parties without the need to store the common secret. The second invention is called a Secure Split Key technique, which allows users to store a private key in such a way that it cannot be obtained by an unauthorized party, but it can also be reproduced when needed.

Takeaway

The record-high price of bitcoin marks the start of an easy ride for the digital currency. It is imperative to adopt innovations, like what nChain has provided, to protect bitcoin from security risks and sustain its growth.
