There’s been enough idiots that run on to the baseball field naked only to be tackled by security and escorted off the field, usually to a chorus of applause. For some reason, everyone loves the sports streaker, bettors love them too. This isn’t about the naked idiot, this about when MLB teams get hot and just can’t stop winning.
There’s two NL teams right now that are sizzling hot in the MLB, and if you’ve been betting on baseball, you already know what I’m talking about. The Cincinnati Reds, after that infamous brawl against the St. Louis Cardinals, the Reds have been on fire. The Reds have managed to win 7 of their last 10 and have won 6 in a row, good for the longest current winning streak in the MLB. If you’re planning on jumping on the Reds winning train, there still might be some room, the Reds head into LA to face the lowly Dodgers. The way the Reds are playing and the way the Dodgers are fading as winners of just 4 of their last 10 games, there’s a good chance that winning streak could continue. St. Louis on the other hand, they haven’t fared so well, and have fallen further behind the Reds, as they’re on a streak of their own, in the opposite direction. The Cards have lost four in a row and now sit 3.5 back in the NL Central.
Not surprisingly, the Cards aren’t the only team streaking in the wrong direction. The Cubs have also lost five in a row and wouldn’t surprise anyone if they got swept by the Braves.
The other streaking team in the MLB is the San Diego Padres, who are quietly compiling one of the best records in the MLB. The NL West is not the walk thru division it once was as 4 of the 5 teams in the division have records above .500. The Padres are the hottest team in baseball, they’ve won 9 of their last ten and five in a row. If they continue this winning streak, they can all but wrap up the division title as they already sit 6 games ahead of the second place Giants. For the Padres the secret to thier success really is no secret at all, they’re winning on the road. The Padres lead the entire MLB with road wins with 37 and even though they’re not favored going into Milwaukee, it might be a good bet that this team finds a way to get that” W” tonight.
