I’m not sure whether the old Queen Vic was an avid gambler in her time, but an Aussie province in her name sure has a nose for a bit of a flutter. Residents of Victoria, known as Victorians, spent as much as AUS$2.6billion last year on Pokie machines, although the Victoria Commission for Gambling Regulation (VCGR) did point out that spending was 4.1% less than last year’s total, and represented the biggest drop since the smoking ban was introduced.
