A federal appeals court has instructed an Indiana judge to hear the class action suit brought against the NCAA by a bunch of disgruntled sports fans. At issue is the NCAA’s ticket lottery, in which fans must first pony up a $6-10 non-refundable fee to have their names entered into a draw for the right to buy tickets for high-profile events like the Final Four. The NCAA says it’s a legitimate fee; the bringers of the class-action suit say it’s a form of gambling, because the ‘prize’ is worth more than the ‘entry fee’.
