Michael Zhang continues to impress with his second major victory in the King’s Resort in two-years after taking down the €25,500 Super High Roller at partypoker LIVE MILLIONS Europe.
Give a piece of gold a bath in Aqua Regia, and you’re looking at a snowman made of piss killed by a blowtorch. Stick a lump of Titanium in the same tub, and nothing happens.
Titanium is anti-corrosive.
Titanium is Michael Zhang.
Ever since the world shot 2018 out of its womb, Zhang has been a revelation. The British pro has sent steady shockwaves through each layer of poker’s hierarchy, and today, you’ll find him crushing skulls in the highest ranks of the game.
Zhang earned $1.1m playing live tournaments in 2018 and has already surpassed that annual haul with four-months of this year remaining. He has won nine live tournaments, with his last coming a few days ago.
Zhang corroded a field of 42 entrants (Inc. 9 re-entries) in the €25,500 No-Limit Hold’em Super High Roller at the partypoker LIVE MILLIONS Europe in the King’s Resort, Rozvadov.
Leon Tsoukernik’s gaff is a happy stomping ground for Zhang. Last year, he won the €51,000 No-Limit Hold’em Super High Roller in this same event (called MILLIONS Germany), beating 47-entrants to win the €800,000 first prize.
The final table of nine saw Kahle Burns, Ole Schemion and Kristen Bicknell fail to turn a profit. The first person to hit the cash desk like a spear through a wild boar was Choon Siow. The Malaysian finished sixth a few days after finishing fifth in the €25,500 Triton Short-Deck event. Siow also made the final table of the £50,000 Short-Deck and the £25,000 No-Limit Hold’em at the Triton Super High Roller Series in London.
The former Poker Master, Steffen Sontheimer, was next to fall like a drone in the middle of an EMP blitz. The German star inconspicuous by his absence at the Triton Super High Roller Series in London, finished fifth.
Fourth place went to a man who not only played in the Triton Super High Roller Series in London – he created the damn thing. Incredibly, Paul Phua has made the final table of 11 tournaments in 2019 – not bad for a non-professional.
After Phua went the way of lavender in the winter, Zhang faced the unknown talents of Selhaddon Bedir and Tom Vogelsang. Bedir fell in third for his first cash outside of the Merit Crystal Cove Casino in Kyrenia. Vogelsang climbed into the tub to face Zhang in heads-up competition and ended up like that snowman we talked about at the top of the program.
