Boris Becker, Sam Trickett, and Roberto Romanello are confirmed to compete in the Mazagan 10 Poker Festival, and will help raise funds for the DT38 Charity in support of testicular cancer.
I have been fortunate to work at poker festivals all over the world, and my favourite place to visit is Mazagan Beach Resort in Morocco. It’s not even close. For the 10-days I was there for the World Poker Tour (WPT) Season 11 WPT Mazagan event the hosts treated me like a king.
And I am a mere blogger.
Imagine, how well they look after the players.
When the WPT announced it was a one time deal, I was devastated. But if I do decide to pick up my pen and kickstart my live reporting career, the opportunity to revisit decadence might be back on the cards thanks to partypoker.
The online poker room is hosting the Mazagan 10 Poker Festival, and a whole host of top names have signed up to compete including the former Wimbledon Tennis Champion, Boris Becker, Europe’s top live tournament money earner Sam Trickett, and partypoker’s newest ambassador Roberto Romanello.
The festival takes place Friday 23 Sep – Sunday 26 September and the beating heart is the €10,000 High Roller, Sep 24-25. The event already has 30-runners including Trickett, Romanello, Paul Newey, Rob Yong, Simon Deadman, and a host of casino VIPs from Morocco and London. There is also a €1,000 event, and Mr Becker will be hopping into that one.
Partypoker will host a special player’s party on the Friday. The Sticky Da Da’s are flying in from London to provide the entertainment, and Boris Becker will host a silent auction in aid of the DT38 Charity – a charity set up to raise awareness of testicular cancer after the tragic death of West Ham’s Dylan Tombides.
Players who register for the €1k or €10k event will receive free entry into a special charity golf tournament. Prizes are numerous including a £1k buy-in for the Palm Beach Big Game in London.
Aside from the tournament action, there will be cash games all weekend with stakes ranging from €1/€2 to super high stakes. Players interested in playing the World Championships of Online Poker (WCOOP) will be glad to hear that competing on .com sites in Mazagan is perfectly legal, and the internet reception in the hotel is second to none.
WPT National Marrakech
Why not make it an extended stay?
Once the Mazagan festivities are out of the way why not travel to nearby Marrakech and compete in the WPT National Marrakech festival. There will be 28 events in total, including the €1,200 Main Event, carrying a €300k guaranteed prize pool, and a €2,700 Super High Roller.
The full schedule of events can be found here.
