Matteo Mutti has won the Italian Poker Tour Main Event in Nova Gorica, after beating Christian Favale in heads-up action at the Perla Casino & Hotel.
Italian Matteo Mutti has won the €1,000 buy-in Italian Poker Tour (IPT) Season 7 Main Event.
The latest iteration of the IPT dragged 265 players to the Perla Casino & Hotel in the Slovenian municipality of Nova Gorica, on the Italian border. €72,050 was added to the prize pool and €60,000 of that now sits in the bank account of Mutti.
32 players cashed, with the min-cash set at €2,200.
Mutti beat an inexperienced final table, with numerous players cashing in a live event for the first time. The victory was the biggest of Mutti’s career. The IPT has been kind to him. At the inaugural IPT in Malta, earlier this year, he defeated 241 entrants to take the first prize of €24,700 in a €550 No-Limit Hold’em event. Up until this cash that was the biggest score of his career.
The Italian has now accumulated $116,440 in total live tournament earnings, after his Q5 beat the A9 of Christian Favale, after the pair met in heads-up action (a pair of fives on the flop and river settling it). Favale picked up €36,000 for his runner-up spot, and that too was his largest individual score to date.
The only other player of any note at the final table was the third place finisher Fabio Scepi who was cashing in the IPT Main Event for the seventh time. In Season 6 he finished eighth in the IPT Main Event in San Remo for €13,000. He picked up €25,000 for his efforts on this one.
