Calling all Borat Fans out there!! Remember the guy who wrestled naked with Borat in the hotel? Well John Pappas, Executive Director of the Poker Player’s Alliance, is lucky enough to be playing some poker with him right now.
Our very own PPA is co-sponsoring the Derby Poker Championship hosted (and emcee’d!) by Phil Hellmuth, Denny Crum and Robert Williamson III, which is taking place right now in Kentucky, U S and A. The 2010 Derby Poker Championship attracted an impressive crowd of poker celebs, actors, and athletes, including Jennifer Tilly, Ron White, Chris Ferguson, Robby Albarado, Ken Davitian, Borat’s naked wrestling partner, and I’m kind of wishing that I was John right about now.
The tourney itself will benefit two charities, Blessings in a Backpack, a program dedicated to feeding needy children, and Health and Climate Foundation, a non-profit organization established to catalyze new opportunities to reduce the impact of climate sensitive diseases, both charities providing players with the perfect excuse to go all in.
After six hours of poker and enough of Phil’s emceeing, another excuse to “go all in” will present itself at the at the Official Jim Beam Derby Poker After Party, a location with plenty of whiskey to consume and a location from which I think Mr Pappas is
going to avoid sending me his pictures. Oh well, good luck and good night!
