Full Tilt Poker change domain names increasing speculation that they are gearing up to drop poker from their menu of services and the schedule for FTOPS XXVI is released.
Is Full Tilt Poker going to drop poker from its menu of services?
It seems that way after PocketFives broke the story that the former online poker giant had changed its domain names from fulltiltpoker.com, and fulltiltpoker.eu, to fulltilt.com and fulltilt.eu. Interesting news but hardly a revelation as our very own CalvinAyre predicted this very move way back in 2012.
Poker has an unusual problem on its hands. The act of gambling is at the heart of poker and it’s this fact that means the mainstream non-gambling enterprises prefer not to get into bed with us. But from a business perspective there is a lot of money to be made in the gambling business. Billions of dollars.
So the transformation of Full Tilt Poker into a Full Tilt Gaming enterprise, whilst leaving the jewel in the crown, PokerStars, to concentrate its efforts in promoting poker as a game of skill, and strategy, makes logical sense.
We have seen the caterpillar start to embed itself into its chrysalis over recent months. Blackjack, slots and roulette have all been added to the ailing online poker companies menu of services, and the recent acquisition by Amaya Gaming now means there are even more gaming/gambling resources at Full Tilt’s disposal.
Watch this space for further information as that particular metamorphosis continues.
FTOPS XXVI Schedule Released
We are not dead yet!
If Full Tilt Poker does one day close the doors on their poker enterprise one thing that people will surely miss is the FTOPS series. The face of the much loved online poker series can be seen on the horizon after Full Tilt released the schedule for the 16th installment of this series.
The schedule will run between August 3 and August 17, and players will square off against each other over a series of 31 events containing a total prize pool of over $4.5 million, with the Main Event guaranteeing a $1 million prize pool.
The event contains guarantees galore with at least five six-figure guarantees being promised, with the big one planned for the $600+$35 No-Limit Hold’em (NLHE) Re-Entry event.
Full Tilt Poker will be offering it’s usual added incentives for the grinders with a four-month Black Card Pro Sponsorship contract for the man, or woman, who tops the FTOPS Leaderboard at the end of the two weeks.
